  5. with the carefully enunciated opening line of "Draggin' the Lake": "Sent on a mission to find out just how much shit one man can take." Such sentiments are nothing new for Soul Asylum, whose previous album, Let Your Dim Light Shine, opened with a song called "Misery," which repeated the words "frustrated incorporated" as if the band had a corner on the market.
  6. For their follow-up, Candy From a Stranger, Soul Asylum stubbornly continued in the post-Tom Petty mainstream rock tradition that marked their first two albums for Columbia. It only made sense -- a return to the sloppy rave-ups of Twin/Tone, or even their hard-rocking A&M records, would have seemed forced.
  7. Candy from a Stranger is Soul Asylum's eighth studio album. It was released on May 12, (see in music). It follows 's Let Your Dim Light Shine.. The band had originally planned to release an album entitled Creatures of Habit produced by Matt Hyde. Columbia Records did not approve of the recordings and shelved the album a few weeks before it was supposed to be released.
